Torrevieja Police - GRASP
GRASP is a joint communications initiative between the Policía Local and the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja. The initiative is intended to provide two-way communications between security agencies, citizens, commercial associations and organisations such as Vecinos Cooperando y Colaborando de España.
One of the communications channels envisaged by the security agencies is that in the event of a serious incident the security agencies can send, by SMS messaging, details of suspects, vehicles and other pertinent information.
The manner in which Neighbourhood Watch can contribute to this communication channel is that the Lead Coordinator of each Torrevieja Branch would submit two mobile phone numbers to the security agencies and on receipt of an SMS message from them, seeking assistance, the Lead Coordinator would pass the information to all their contacts.
This is a brief explanation of how the security agencies can be asisted by the public in resolving serious incidents. The cooperation between the Policía Local and the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja is an example to all.

Annual General Meeting (AGM) 30/03/2011
The Committee met last week to discuss, amongst other things, this year´s AGM and the next meeting with Lead Coordinators. It was decided that, in a similar style to last year´s arrangements, both meetings will be held on the morning of Wednesday 30th March 2011, so I would be grateful if you would put this date in your diaries. The main business of the AGM will be the election of Association officers. The current officers are willing to stand for re-election but any other nominations (with proposer & seconder) can be made by email to me no later than 2 March 2011. A copy of last years AGM and EGM minutes are attached. Also attached is a proxy form for those members unable to attend. Lead Coordinators should bring completed forms along to the meeting. Most of you are familiar with these arrangements for the AGM but for those who are not please don´t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or need clarification on anything. A detailed agenda and further instructions will follow in due course.
Meeting of Managing Committee & Lead Coordinators - It is intended that this meeting will immediately follow the AGM. As with the AGM a detailed agenda and further instructions will follow in due course but two important issues will be the new website and future meetings in the North and South of the region. In the meantime, if you would like to host a meeting in your area and can provide a venue please get in touch.

Taxi Warning
A word of warning when using Taxis. An elderly neighbour went to the bank in town today to withdraw some cash. Being very sensible elected to take a taxi rather than the bus to her home.
When she got in the taxi 2 young women got in with her and the driver assumed they were together and so drove her home. When she got out of the taxi the driver said that the fare had been paid and drove away with the 2 women still in the taxi to another destination.
